Departmental Promotion Committee

Promotion Committee is only a recommendatory body and the competent authority is not bound to accept its recommendation – But recommendations have legal value – It may not create any right but it cannot denied that the recommendation of the Selection Committee has a peculiar role to paly for selection process – Promotion on selection posts is dependent on the recommendation of the selection board- if the recommendation has to be rejected there must exist some reasons- validity of the reasons can be gone into by the Service Tribunal.
