1. An order of maintaining status quo could not be passed in the instant case — There is no provision for maintenance of status quo in criminal proceedings. Rabnawaz  v. The State 2009 SCR 56 (D)
  2. —pre-emption appeal— status quo order to be operative till returnable date—no application or order for extension of status quo order on record—decretal amount deposited after dismissal of appeal—decretal amount not deposited within reasonable time— the learned High Court specified the date of return of notice as 20.09.2010, meaning thereby that the stay order was operative only till the returnable date, on which no application for extension of stay order was moved, as is evident from the order dated 20.09.2010. Thus, it can safely be concluded that after excluding the period, during which the stay order issued by the High Court remained in field, the respondents failed to deposit the decretal amount within reasonable time. Muhammad Razzaq v. Manzoor Hussain & 3 others 2019 SCR 794 (C)
