- — Father is under obligation to maintain his children till they attain the age of majority— in the case of daughters till they are married— father legally bond not only to contribute financial means in maintaining minor children but he is otherwise required to have general approach to take care of well-being, health, education and welfare of minors in all aspects of life. - —Quantum of maintenance—determined as per financial condition of father—Upper-age limit for maintenance of son, daughter and in case of disable child, defined. Held: the quantum of maintenance for children has not been defined by any statute, quantum of maintenance is decided by the Court according to the financial condition of father/husband and need of the children/wife, however, fair and reasonable amount of maintenance is settled principle of jurisprudence in the light of the judgment of the Apex Courts and father is obliged to maintain his son till he child attains majority and his daughter till she gets married and in case of infirmity or disability father is bound to maintain their child even after attaining majority.
