- —Rule, 443,444,445— a mechanism has been provided for assessment of mental illness of prisoners—Jail Superintendent to put prisoner for 10 days under observation of Medical Officer—who will submit report of such observation to Jail Superintendent– -In the Prison Rules to meet such situation as is involved in the present case, a mechanism has been provided that in the first instance the Jail Superintendent place the patient under the observation of Medical Officer for a period of 10 days and on the expiry of the said period, the Medical Officer shall submit the report/result to the Jail Superintendent.
