Rules.131-136 — conduct of an advocate — with clients — The Bar Council has made Rules called AJ&K Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Rules, 1998 — Chapter XVII of part B of these Rules deals with the conduct of an advocate with regard to the clients. Legal profession — required — high standards of integrity and honesty — heavy duty upon advocates — duties discussed — As the profession of advocacy is a profession of nobles and according to the nature of the duties, a high standard of integrity and honesty is required. The advocates are custodians and guardians of the rights of their clients. Keeping in view the nature of such exalted professional duties, for maintaining the standards of integrity and honesty, the statutory provision reproduced hereinabove has casted heavy duty upon the advocates. Therefore, the advocates shall not acquire any interest adverse to his client in the case property, or involved in the case, represent conflicting interests, himself or in benami purchase any property at a probate foreclosure or judicial sale in an auction or proceed in which such advocate appears for a party, nor shall he accept the whole or part of the property, in respect of which he had been engaged to conduct the case, in lieu of his remuneration, or as a reward or bounty. An advocate shall not mingle the property of a client with his own and shall promptly report to the client the receipt by him of any money or other property belonging to such client. M. Bashir v. M. Advocates — being officers of the Court — maintain high standards integrity and honesty — the advocates who have to play indispensable important role in the administration of justice , by nature of their services are the officers of the Court, hence, they have to maintain the high levels of integrity and honesty as required by law.
