  2. —Rule 2(h)—law officers, defined— Rule 2(h) of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Law Department Manual, 2016, depicts that the Advocate-General, Additional Advocate-General and Assistant Advocate-General are included in the definition of Law Officers.   5. —Distribution of cases amongst law officers—Supreme Court observed that in a number of cases, the Advocate-General has shown his inability to argue the case on the ground that he has not been directed by the Law Department—such practice is highly deprecated— held:  Advocate-General holding the constitutional post is not supposed to be subordinate to Secretary Law—it is the Advocate-General who is a fit person to decide the matter of distribution of the cases amongst the Law Officers— in future the Advocate-General is authorized to appear and defend each and every case in the Supreme Court and High Court without any direction by the Secretary Law—cases filed against the Govt., shall be distributed amongst Law Officers by the Advocate General, however, sanction to file the appeal shall be issued by the Law Department in the name of the Advocate-General who shall distribute the cases amongst Law Officers as he deems appropriate.
