- Continuous appointment denotes regular appointment on a post without any break, if a civil servant appointed by promotion order transferred to a higher post and is reverted back to his original post or sent back to the department from where he had been transferred and again adjusted, he cannot claim seniority from the date of his original order of promotion or transfer, as his service at new place of posting would not be considered as continuous.
