- Ignorance of law has never been considered as a valid ground for condonation of delay either in civil or in criminal matters — Petitioners has been clearly negligent and indolent in lodging the petition for leave to appeal beyond period of limitation — Cause shown for condonation of delay is superficial and artificial and same cannot be regarded as one of recognized grounds for condonation of delay. Mujahid Hussain Naqvi v. Director/Deputy Director Anti-corruption & 4 others 2001 SCR 272 (B)
- Contention that petition involves a substantial question of law as to the interpretation of the Act as well as the subordinate legislation as the matter involving the liberties of the citizens in special reference to the Ehtesab Act 2001, and serious question of public importance necessitated authoritative judgment for future guidance , is unfounded and cannot be looked into specially when the petition for leave to appeal is barred by limitation — Supreme Court always grants leave only on a point which is of legal importance and not for mere academic discussion. Mujahid Hussain Naqvi v. Director/Deputy Director Anti-corruption & 4 others 2001 SCR 272 (C)Basic suit filed by plaintiff-respondent is for a decree of Rs.5,00,000/- as damages against defendant-appellants — There is no evidence whatsoever as to loss of how much amount has been caused. Azad Govt. & others v. Muhammad Afzal Shah and another 2003 SCR 22 (A)
- The case of plaintiff-respondent has been spoiled due to ignorance of law by the counsel conducting his case who did not even take the trouble to seek advice from his seniors. Azad Govt. & others v. Muhammad Afzal Shah and another 2003 SCR 22 (B)
- The civil cases are always proved keeping in view the issues and the parties have to lead their evidence in support of their pleadings and issues — It has become a growing tendency in some young generation of legal fraternity that even if they do not know anything about law, they claim themselves to be master of that — One who does not know anything and claims to be the master of that is most ignorant person — Young generation should not hesitate from asking their seniors if they come across some legal proposition about which they do not know. Azad Govt. & others v. Muhammad Afzal Shah and another 2003 SCR 22 (C)
