1. Mere absence of malice or expression of honest opinion is not sufficient to drop the contempt proceedings against a person who by his conduct has tried to lower down the dignity of the Court in order to shake the public confidence — Contempt matters have to be jealously guarded but sparingly exercised. Keeping in view the object of contempt proceedings that these are meant to maintain dignity and honour of the Court and not to take avenge on account of personal grounds, accept the unqualified apology tendered by the respondent — However, he is warned that in future he shall refrain from issuing such type of statements to the press to damage to reputation of the Court in general public.
